I didn’t know just how much I needed this trip until we landed in Kauai. Being pregnant comes with its share of physical changes and emotional shifts—and planning this babymoon was a way for Evo and I to slow down and soak in our last getaway before baby. We chose Kauai for its lush scenery, quiet beaches, and slower pace, and it was everything we hoped for (and more).

Where We Stayed: Luxurious Comfort Amidst Nature

We stayed on the South Shore in Poipu at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, and it felt like the ultimate tropical sanctuary. The resort is expansive yet serene, with beautifully landscaped gardens, multiple pools (including a saltwater lagoon!), and a lazy river that I floated in almost daily. Our room overlooked the ocean, and I loved waking up to the sound of the waves. The location made it easy to explore nearby attractions like Poipu Beach and Allerton Garden, and the on-site dining options meant we didn’t have to travel far for a delicious meal. One of my favorite parts? The Anara Spa's prenatal massage—it was heavenly and made me feel truly pampered.

Our Culinary Adventures: Savoring the Flavors of Kauai

Food is an integral part of Hawaiian culture, and during our babymoon in Kauai, we made it a point to indulge in the local cuisine. From fresh seafood to traditional Hawaiian dishes, each meal was a delightful experience. One of our favorite dining spots was a restaurant located right by the beach, where we enjoyed fresh poke bowls that showcased the bounty of the Pacific.

We found so many fresh, pregnancy-friendly meals. Some favorites were the taro pancakes at Hanalei Bread Co., fresh ahi (cooked!) at Merriman’s, and the fruit smoothies we grabbed almost daily. I missed sipping cocktails at sunset, but the coconut mocktails made up for it.

Additionally, we explored some charming local eateries that introduced us to Hawaiian plate lunches, filled with a variety of flavors, from teriyaki chicken to kalua pork. These culinary experiences not only satisfied our taste buds but also deepened our appreciation for Kauai's rich cultural heritage. Seeking a sweet treat, we found an incredible shave ice stand that offered refreshing flavors, perfect for cooling off after a sunny afternoon spent at the beach.

Exploring Kauai: A Blend of Adventure and Serenity

Kauai's diverse landscape granted us the opportunity to both relax and embark on thrilling adventures. We spent our mornings lounging at breathtaking beaches, such as Hanalei Bay, where we basked in the sun and captivated by the stunning scenery. In contrast, our afternoons were filled with excitement as we explored hiking trails that led us through lush rainforests and past magnificent waterfalls.

One of the highlights of our trip was venturing into Waimea Canyon, often called the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific.' The colors and sheer beauty of the canyon left us in awe, making it a memorable experience that we cherished on our babymoon.

Things I’m Glad We Did (and Didn’t Do)

I’m so glad we didn’t over-schedule ourselves. We had a loose itinerary but left plenty of space to nap, snack, and just enjoy being together. Kauai lends itself to that kind of unhurried vibe.

We skipped anything too adventurous—no boat tours or cliffside hikes. I didn’t feel like I missed out at all. Just being there, walking slowly, and watching the ocean was enough.

We kept our days light and restful. Some highlights:

  • Watching the sunset from Hanalei Bay with our feet in the sand

  • Driving through Waimea Canyon—so easy yet so scenic

  • Strolling through the Allerton Botanical Garden, where every corner felt like a tropical fairytale

  • Floating in the pool and reading (without interruptions!)

  • One very memorable dinner at Tidepools—ask for a table by the koi pond!

A Cherished Memories

This babymoon helped me feel more grounded going into this next chapter. Kauai gave us the space to connect, rest, and reflect. If you’re considering a babymoon here, I wholeheartedly say: do it. Keep it simple, stay near the beach, and give yourself permission to rest. You won’t regret it.
