Why We Chose Oahu for Our Babymoon

After months of prepping for baby, our babymoon in Oahu was the perfect mix of relaxing resort life and island adventure. We wanted something easy to access with great food, beautiful views, and enough to do without overexerting ourselves. Oahu delivered.

We were quite ambitious in our babymoon planning, and we went island hopping from Kauai to Oahu to Maui, so check out our other blogs on our our babymoon experiences at those islands.

Where We Stayed

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, right across from the beach. It was such a convenient location—we could walk to shops, restaurants, and even watch the sunset from our balcony. The staff was incredibly kind and made our stay feel special. I appreciated the little touches like welcome drinks and having easy access to prenatal-friendly spa treatments.

Babymoon-Friendly Activities We Loved

One of the best parts of our trip was the full-day island tour we booked through Viator. It was a great way to see so much of Oahu without the stress of planning or driving ourselves. Some highlights included:

  • North Shore beach stop where we saw massive sea turtles just lounging in the sand (total magic!)

  • Dole Plantation, where I had the most refreshing pineapple soft serve—so good I’m still thinking about it

  • Beautiful scenic overlooks and photo stops along the way, with plenty of chances to just soak it all in

The tour was relaxed and well-paced, which made it ideal for pregnancy travel. I brought snacks, water, and wore comfy shoes, and it was totally doable.

Slow Days in Waikiki

When we weren’t touring the island, we enjoyed slow mornings on Waikiki Beach, easy lunches at nearby cafes, and poolside afternoons. One day we just grabbed a smoothie and people-watched from the shaded lanai—no agenda, just bliss.

We also squeezed in some shopping at the International Market Place (hello, stretchy dresses and baby souvenirs!) and had dinner with a view at Duke’s, which had great non-alcoholic options.

Tips for a Smooth Oahu Babymoon

  • Book your island tour early—it’s a great way to get a taste of the island with minimal planning.

  • Stay somewhere centrally located like Waikiki for easy walking access to shops, beaches, and food.

  • Don’t overpack your days. One adventure + one chill activity is more than enough when pregnant.

  • Bring a sun hat, reef-safe sunscreen, and plenty of snacks for the road.

  • Ask about prenatal massages when booking your resort—they’re worth it!

Onto the next island...

Even in a more touristy part of Hawaii, it’s totally possible to find peaceful moments. Oahu gave us a taste of city energy and beach calm, all wrapped up in an easy, low-stress trip. I loved that we didn’t feel like we had to "do it all" to enjoy it fully.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! If you're looking for a babymoon destination with a little bit of everything—convenience, beauty, culture, and a solid mix of relaxing and exploring—Oahu checks all the boxes. It’s a great pick if you want to feel a little pampered but still get out and see the island.
